Latkelicious
- The Story
Latkelicious
was original intended for a holiday album which was being
produced by several Berklee College of Music students. Jon
Fursh was asked to write a Hanukkah song and got the idea
for Latkelicious when he heard Fergalicious on his shower
radio.
Jon’s
roommates Sydney and Matty played
a big role in the development of the Latkelicious. Sydney
added the female vocal element that was missing in the song.
Matty recorded a few “cheyyy’s,” two of
which were used on the final track. For an entire week, Matty
was kind enough to lend Jon his car so that he could make
frequent trips to the sound studio.
The
lyrics took Jon approximately two weeks to write and perfect.
The song itself took approximately sixty hours to produce.
The web-site at latkelicious.com was developed primarily by
Jon’s father, Bernie. The studio recording, editing,
and mixing was funded primarily by Jon’s mother, Neely.
Jon’s parents were no doubt a major influence in making
Latkelicious a reality.
